Generally, one person produces, on average 1-2 gallons of food scraps per week. Those who cook most meals at home from scratch will be closer or exceed the 2-gallon mark, and those who tend to eat out more - towards the lower end. One tote in a residential setting typically accommodates food scraps for 20-24 people per week.
